I purchased two of these replacement guards in the same size because I keep my beard the same length. I really don’t understand how everybody doesn’t have this problem: the guards break extremely easily. After the first guard that came with my new trimmer broke almost immediately, I thought I could just be very careful moving forward and get a couple of replacements. So I put the first replacement on and simply never removed it for over a month. No problems. I removed the guard once for cleaning and oiling, and one of the cheap tabs broke off literally the second time I ever tried to put it on. And I was being as careful as I could at this point because I knew they were easily breakable. So I put on the second replacement that I had already purchased in anticipation of this problem. It broke within a week. And it isn’t just the tabs on the side that are problematic; the guards are very flexible, thin, and feel cheap. It’s a shame because I really like everything else about my trimmer. But I can’t jus keep buying replacements forever either. If I knew this would be such a problem, I might have purchased the magnetic guards immediately. I really hope that Brio will phase out the plastic ones and just make the magnetic guards the standard for everything. But with shipping, these two replacements were $18. Not a major expense, but what am I supposed to do moving forward? At this rate, I could easily go through 8 to 10 guards per year, and that’s just silly.
